Description
Transform a reference into a breathtaking visual story in our Landscape Illustration Competition. Participants will receive real-world image references and reinterpret them into original, stylized digital landscapes. This is your chance to explore depth, mood, and storytelling through environment design.
Topic
Participants must select one or more themes and create original landscape illustrations based on real reference images. The focus is on creative interpretation, not replication. Use real-world references as inspiration to reimagine scenes with your artistic style.
Deliverables
- High-resolution digital landscape illustration.
Format: PNG or JPG. - Process & Composition Layers
Layered file showing foreground, midground, and background.
Format: PSD or AI. - Visual Elements (Min. 3)
Submit at least 3 isolated elements from your illustration (e.g., mountains, buildings, trees).
Format: PNG with transparent background. - Concept Note & Reference Image
100–200 word explanation of how the reference inspired your final piece.
Include the original image for comparison.
Optional: Rough sketch or idea thumbnails. - Presentation Board
A single-page layout summarizing all your work.
Must include final artwork, elements, reference, and concept text.
Dimensions: 1080×1080px or 1080×1350px
Judging Criteria
- Creativity & Interpretation – Unique reimagination of the reference
- Composition & Depth – Use of layering and spatial design
- Visual Impact – Aesthetic appeal, color harmony, and mood
- Narrative Quality – Ability to tell a story through the scene
- Technical Execution – Clean structure, lighting, and visual balance
Submission Format
Submit a single, clearly labeled folder containing:
- Final landscape illustration (PNG/JPG)
- Layered PSD/AI file
- At least 3 isolated elements (PNG)
- Concept note with reference image
- Presentation board (PDF or online portfolio link)
